Auto Lenders is an independent, family-owned business that has been New Jersey's #1 volume pre-owned car dealership for 13 consecutive years. The company manages over a thousand vehicles across six showrooms in New Jersey. Auto Lenders is headquartered in Voorhees, NJ.

The Business Process

Just like any other business, Auto Lenders tracks every vehicle in an inventory database. Every descriptive feature of a vehicle is entered into the system. This includes basic attributes such as manufacturer, make, model, year, color, mileage, and VIN number. It also includes the specific features the vehicle has such as climate control, leather seats, power windows, entertainment and navigation systems. This data helps Auto Lenders offer potential buyers a superior search experience on their web site (https://www.autolenders.com).

Manual entry of this information is labor intensive and error prone. Auto Lenders needed a process to automatically populate database records for new vehicles. This will reduce costs, produce more accurate records and ultimately shorten the time from inventory acquisition to showroom ready.

The Solution

Vega Development staff worked with Auto Lenders to create an application that automates vehicle data entry. The mobile-optimized application runs on an iPad with a wireless bar code scanner. A vehicle VIN number is scanned and the program automatically populates vehicle data using information from the Chrome Data database published by Autodata Solutions. Vehicle data is stored in a SQL database and disseminated to other Auto Lenders systems as needed.
